The Baltimore Airport, known as the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is an international airport that services the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area. It is ten miles south of the city of Baltimore and 32 miles northeast of Washington DC. The airport is named after Thurgood Marshall, a native of Baltimore and the very first African American elected to the United States Supreme Court.
